Performs clerical duties including typing, filing, and completion of forms.
Performs minor accounting duties.
Creates and updates records to ensure accuracy and validity of information.
Assists in preparing regularly scheduled reports.
Gathers documents to prepare for meetings and coordinates travel, meeting, and workshop arrangements.
Monitors level of supplies and handles shortages.
Resolves office-related malfunctions and responds to requests or issues.
Serves as the receptionist for the office, greeting visitors and answering telephone calls.
Copies, sorts, and files records related to office activities, business transactions, and other matters.
Sorts incoming mail to appropriate department or individual; processes outgoing mail.
Maintains filing systems manually and electronically.
Manages calendars and schedules appointments.
Answers business office telephone and fields telephone calls from member libraries.
Prepares and proofreads documents, spreadsheets, and web-based documents and forms.
Prints/copies/laminates materials and documents for internal customers and member libraries.
Processes bulk mailings.
Manages print room.
Submits work orders and schedules repairs for general office space and equipment, escorts vendors.
Exhibits excellent telephone and email communication skills.
Cooperates with other departments and performs any task essential to the smooth operation of the System.
Works under general supervision from the Business Manager and System director.
Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
Scheduling and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.
Must possess strong computer skills using QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite applications (specifically Microsoft Word and Excel).
Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills.
Must be detail-oriented, organized, and with demonstrated analytical ability.
Ability to communicate effectively and pleasantly with others through writing and speaking precisely.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
Must be team-oriented and possess a positive attitude and work well with others.
Ability to handle responsibilities and problems creatively, to carry an idea from beginning to end.
Ability to take direction from others.
A minimum 1-year relevant experience working in an automated environment preferred.
The Central Kansas Library System requires reference/background and drug screening for all positions.
One (1) or more years in complex office support and/or business administration.
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

up to 40 lbs.
This position requires sitting for long periods of time.
